I would like to formally introduce to the world, Ron and I's son, Christopher Elijah Breckon! Today was by far one of the emotional and happiest days of my life as we finalized adoption on this sweet little boy.
Over two years ago now, Ron and I were told that having kids would be very difficult and next to impossible. Completely devastated but not deterred from parenthood, we quickly decided adoption would be our route. Adoption has always been placed on my heart and now I knew why. We prayed about how this was going to be feasible considering our limited budget and the expense that comes along with adoption and we were shortly knocked on the head by God about foster care. My aunt, Paula and her family were already in the process of becoming a foster family at this point so we decided to follow their lead and become licensed. In January of 2013, this sweet little boy came into care at the VanDuine household at just over a year old. We immediately fell in love and in May found out that his case was soon going to become pre-adoptive. We knew that this child needed to be ours, so we sped up the process and were able to place him in our home September of 2013. We went to court case after court case just waiting for the magic words of the judge to terminate parental rights and in April of this year--it finally happened. Since then we have been going through the adoption process which was finally finalized today. October 10 and 10 am! (10-10 at 10)
Oh how he has blessed our lives. However, with this little miracle came more! We were blessed with placement of his little newborn sister in August. Although we cannot share her name, pictures, or information on her we pray that she will also become ours permanently in the next year. And once we were able to focus our energy on him and let down our guards--God decided to bless us even more by allowing me to get pregnant! (ha! doctors!) Our quiet little family of 2, a little over a year ago, is now a rambunctious crew of 5 happier then we knew possible.
There are not enough words that I can say to thank our family and friends that have been with us through this journey, but more importantly loving, welcoming, and accepting this little boy from day one as our son. He needed a family. He needed just one person to love him and oh boy--he has no idea the family that he got put with!
